Intention & Impact
This story is for the Mexican Immigrant community in New York City, otherwise known as PueblaYork. It highlights the struggle of arriving in this busy city and being consumed by the chaotic streets. Touching on the difficulty of trying to find time and accessibility to communication to your loved ones in a different country. Adjusting to a huge city like NYC where there’s a multitude of cultures, trying to find your own can be difficult when you first arrive.
This film also brings light to the loved ones in the motherland who deal with the grief of their family members being away from them, in hopes of having a “better life”. Showing the difficulties of continuing your life back home but also embracing the beauty of family and culture. Having that dream that one day you will see your loved one again, keeps us moving forward.
Through out my training as a filmmaker I’ve learned the benefits of having funding behind a project. I always aim to provide a safe and comfortable set for my cast and crew however, sometimes it its necessary to have funding for travel, food, space. I’ve learned to do a lot with very little resources.

Angel Garcia
My name is Angel Garcia. Raised in bushwick, I found my outlet to be in video creation at a young age. Being behind and in front of a camera is something that has always been second nature. I love discovering and uplifting creatives, especially in bushwick. I know how nervous one can be when trying to pursue something they like, all I want to do is be able to give people the confidence they need to take that big step forward.
as Julio
Producer, Director, Writer
I produce & direct short films centering Mexican Immigrants and First Generation Mexican American experiences with identity, mental health, and love, in the beautiful yet chaotic streets of New York City. Representation in this growing industry is important to me and I've expanded on this mission by directly reaching out to my community to create art with local talent & businesses, from music videos to documentaries. Seeking the talent within the people in my everyday life to bring light to Mexican culture and the everyday person. My goal is to uplift the communities I come from to contribute to the new wave of art made to heal the adversities and generational traumas we face as a community. Along with creating a space with Mexican talent, creatives, and dedicated Mexican production crew.
